Laser Vein
Vein and Pigmented Lesion Removal
Small veins of the face, chest, neck and legs can be treated successfully with either lasers
or Intense Pulsed Light. We offer the latest in both modalities and decide at the time of the consultation which treatment option is best for you.
What types of Leg Veins can be treated?
Varicose veins, usually deeper blue veins, need different treatment from discolored
clusters (known as "spider veins") that are near the skin surface. For this reason, we use the VascuLight system, which is equipped with two different
state-of-the-art light and laser technologies, and the Iriderm KTP-532 laser, which is highly effective for small veins of the face and legs.
How many treatments are needed?
Many leg veins need multiple treatments, often over a few months before the effect is complete.
Even small vessels often require time to resolve. Sometimes a bit of "matting" or "staining" surrounds the treated vessel.
Is treatment painful?
A pulse of laser or Intense Pulsed Light energy may feel like a pinch similar to a snapped rubber band.
Chilled gel is placed on the skin to prevent discomfort, and if possible, we utilize topical numbing cream. The entire procedure is brief and non-invasive -
no needles are used at any time.
What preparations must I make?
Any aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications should be discontinued 2 days prior
to treatment. Plan to avoid prolonged standing and exercise for 2 days after treatment. Prior to and following any type of laser or IPL treatment, you must
limit your exposure to the sun. Treatment is not as effective on tanned skin.
Pigmented Lesions
The laser can also be used to remove pigmented lesions, which are either dark brown or black. Once we determine
that the lesion is not a skin cancer we can successfully treat these with the KTP laser.
